Not only that, we just finished Without Thought, a short film that has been ten years in the mind. It is looking impossibly beautiful. A collaboration with Ollie Banks and John Eldridge. More soon...
Roadtripping with a shit phonecamera. East and west. Fine SW groundswell lighting up empty points, perfect testing ground for the big hulls. Weird B+Bs with a decaying, out-of-season feel. Short story ideas flooding, stopping the car every few minutes to write in laybys. Walking under railway bridges to remote rivermouths. The trip culminating in a peak session in thumping beachbreak and one lovely bottle-green glimpse. These are the moments we live for.
Oh, and one really odd experience. On a new swell surfing little rights on the 7'7'' Spence hull and swapping fins every few waves exploring the board, on one lap a huge boat came in close to the shore. Up went the ramp and it dropped boulders right into the lineup I'd been surfing all day. Spot destroyed.
